This plant is characterized by its banana-like foliage clumping that can grow to a height of 15' tall. It needs to be planted in full sun on the coast and full sun to slight shade inland, in a protected area since wind can shred its leaves. The Giant Bird requires a 6'-8' diameter planting area and a good drainage system. It is tender to frost and does not respond well in clay soils.
