Kentia Palm, Parlor Palm (Howea Forserana)

This Palm is native to Lord Howe Island off the coast of Australia . The Kentia has a slender trunk with dark green feathery fronds that droop, spreading 6'-8' wide. This is a slow growing palm, which likes humid conditions and works well in pots and are good indoors or outdoors. If planting a Kentia near the coast, plant in full sun to slight shade, and if planting in an inland location plant in a mostly shaded area that is very protected and frost-free. This plant is able to handle tight spaces and it needs very good drainage and loamy (organic) soil. It is important that the foliage on the Kentia Palm is watered frequently in order to keep the dust at a minimum and to decrease the chance of mite and mealy bug damage.
